Thursday Thoughts ~ Thrush Infection

BabyWithThrush

What if baby has white patches on the insides of his/her cheeks? What could this be?

It could be a common and harmless yeast infection known as thrush. Thrush often looks like cottage cheese or milk curds on the sides, roof, and sometimes the tongue of a baby’s mouth. It’s most common in babies 2 months and younger, but it can appear in older babies, too. If baby cries during feedings, and you’ve noticed patches in their mouth, it is best to address the possibility of Thrush with your child’s doctor.

Thursday Thoughts – Does My Newborn Recognize Me?

Newbaby

Answer: Newborns recognize their mother’s voice at birth. They’ve been listening to you for 9 months! It is said to take baby somewhere between 15-20 days to recognize their dad’s voice after birth. Babies are also said to have a heightened sense of smell, allowing them to recognize their mom’s presence in the dark for night time diaper changes and feedings.
